How did your interior design career begin and what sparked your direction?
Design, decorating and colour have always been personal passions in my life, which I’ve been really privileged to be able to study formally and then develop those interests professionally.
What inspired you to be involved with Azalée Interiors?
I was invited by Richard Gouget and his business partner Sara Burks to be involved in creating Azalee Interiors. From its concept and design to product selection, it has been an exciting opportunity to put to use lots of my previous colour, design and interiors experience in to a dream project!
What was your most successful project to date?
To me each project I’ve worked on has been successful in different ways that have been important to the client. But I have to say that my involvement with Azalée Interiors has been a very personal success because it has challenged me to use my creative and design skills in a very different context – to develop an interiors concept and brand that’s all about great style, quality and design, while helping our customers to feel confident about creating a co-ordinated and comfortable look for their home.
How often do you incorporate seasonal trends into your interiors?
It’s always important to keep informed of design trends, your clients and customers will expect it. Our aim with Azalée Interiors is to always stock contemporary and stylish up-to-date seasonal pieces for the home as well as many timeless, unusual and handcrafted items to love forever!
How would you sum up your individual style in a sentence?
Comfortable and contemporary easy-elegance, chic, sophisticated, stylish and unusual design-led accessories for the home.
What’s your take on plantation shutters for interior design?
Plantation shutters offer a real stylish statement to design for windows. I’m a big fan of them. I find that they’re a neat, simple and smart alternative to varied combinations of curtains and blinds. They’re great for adding character and can dramatically improve the look of a home.
Do you have anything exciting coming up for 2018?
We have some exciting plans to further enhance the Azalée range with bespoke paints to complement our products and also to work with designers and manufacturers to develop a signature collection for the home.
